Note: Some characters appear in more than one series, but I've decided to create only one page per character and link to them from each series. The record-holder here is Miles O'Brien, who appeared in the first episode of The Next Generation, and after five and a half years, spent seven years on Deep Space Nine. I don't think any characters have appeared in all four series; but Q has appeared on NG, DS9 and Voyager.
