Les: In Washington, Carter sends Mondale abroad.

Les: Now stay tuned for a whole slew of commercials, most of which would insult the intelligence of the average six-year-old.

Jennifer describes her man to Johnny: The man is blond, and beautiful, every girl's dream... and poor! He doesn't have a dime!

Jennifer: He's just so good-looking, like a model. Oh! (In the background Johnny poses) And he has these beautiful white teeth! (Johnny smiles) And this long blond hair... (Johnny shakes his hair out) And the cutest...
Bailey: What?
Jennifer: No, I -
Bailey, gasping: What??
Jennifer: The cutest little derriere you have ever seen!!
Johnny freezes, then inspects his butt with his hand and minces out of the room.

Bailey, gasping with passion: Oh! Wow! Blond... model... derriere... teeth... Steel! Oh!! God!

Steel: I like to think that a person's name says a lot about the type of person he is. What was your name again?
Les, after a pause: Les.

Les: All newsmen drink, Jennifer. That's the kind of rough-and-tumble guys we are. Good night and ... congratulations to the both of you on your very fine looks.

Les: I've been studying the equal-opportunity laws, and you've got a real leg up here, my friend. Being a negro is where it's at.
Venus: Thanks, Les, but it hasn't always been that easy.
Les: Slavery, right?
Venus: Yeah.
Les: I saw "Roots."
Venus: So did I, Les.
Les: I've seen 'em all: "Porgy and Bess," "Raisin in the Sun," "The Jeffersons."

Johnny: Jennifer has fallen for some guy and - get this, man - it's not me!!

Steel: Can we talk this thing out?
Jennifer: Go away. There is nothing to talk about.
Steel: But Jennifer, we've got something worth saving here! (He sees Bailey) Hiii.
Jennifer: OHHH!! Where is something to throw?! Something heavy!

Jennifer: He wants my money, that's all, he doesn't want me!
Mr Carlson: Oh, you're a very sick young man!

Jennifer: You know, I think I do like older men better. They're so mature and kind, and they tire easily.
Mr Carlson: Yeah, I've noticed that.
